FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What questions we usually get about solar services

What is a solar power system?

A solar power system converts sunlight into electricity using photovoltaic (PV) panels. It helps reduce reliance on the electricity grid and cuts down power bills.

What are the types of solar systems?

  • On-Grid System: Connected to the electricity grid excess power is sent back.

  • Off-Grid System: Standalone system with battery backup.

  • Hybrid System: Combines both grid connection and battery storage.

  • How much does a solar system cost?

The cost depends on system size, type, brand, and installation complexity.

How much space is needed for installation?

Approximately 100 sq. ft. per kW of rooftop area is required. A 3kW system may need around 300 sq. ft.

What is the lifespan of a solar panel?

Most panels last 25 to 30 years or more with proper maintenance.

    What maintenance is required?

    Minimal maintenance:

  • Regular cleaning (once every 15–30 days)

  • Checking for shade or debris.

  • Occasional inspection of connections and inverters.

  • How much electricity can I generate?

On average, 1kW of solar panels generates 4 units/day depending on location, season, and sunlight availability.

Is solar energy available during cloudy or rainy days?

Yes, but production is lower. Solar panels still generate electricity in diffuse sunlight.

Can I run all appliances on solar?

Yes, but the system size should be designed to match your load requirement, especially for high-wattage appliances like ACs, geysers, or pumps.

Will my electricity bill become zero?

With a properly sized on-grid system, your electricity bill can be significantly reduced, and in some cases, become negligible—especially with net metering.

    What is net metering?

Net metering allows you to export extra solar energy to the grid and earn credits which are adjusted against your consumption.

    Are there any government subsidies?

Yes. The Indian government provides subsidies under the PM-Surya Ghar Yojana and state-level schemes for residential rooftop systems. The percentage may vary by location and installer.
